Pursue the Peace That Pleases God

Verse of the Day: “Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.” — Psalm 34:14 (KJV)
Verse of the Day: “Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.” Psalm 34:14 (KJV)

Peace doesn't happen by accident.

It is something we must intentionally seek, protect, and pursue.

David writes with urgency:

“Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.”

Notice the action words—depart, do, seek, and pursue. God calls us to an active faith, one that continually chooses what is right and turns away from what is harmful.

Turn Away from Evil

Following God isn't only about doing good; it's also about turning away from anything that separates us from Him.

Bitterness.Pride.Unforgiveness.Dishonesty.Jealousy.

These things rob us of the peace God longs to give us.

Every day we are faced with choices. Every day, God invites us to leave behind the things that lead to darkness and walk in His light.

Choose to Do Good

Goodness is more than avoiding wrong—it is intentionally reflecting the character of Christ.

A kind word to someone who is hurting.

A helping hand to a neighbor.

A forgiving heart toward someone who has failed you.

Every act of goodness becomes a testimony of God's love working through you.

Seek Peace—and Chase After It

David doesn't simply say to appreciate peace when it comes.

He says:

"Seek peace, and pursue it."

The word pursue paints the picture of someone running after something valuable.

Peace is worth chasing.

Sometimes that means choosing forgiveness instead of revenge.

Sometimes it means listening instead of arguing.

Sometimes it means trusting God instead of giving in to fear.

The peace God offers is not merely the absence of conflict—it is the presence of His rule in our hearts.

A World That Needs Peacemakers

Our world desperately needs people who reflect the peace of Christ.

Imagine the difference we could make if we chose grace over anger...Humility over pride...Love over division...

Every time we pursue peace, we point people toward the Prince of Peace—Jesus Christ.

Prayer: Father, help me turn away from everything that dishonors You and choose what is good. Teach me to seek peace in my relationships, my words, and my thoughts. Fill my heart with the peace of Christ so that I may be an instrument of Your love wherever I go. Amen.

Takeaway: Peace isn't found by standing still.

It is found by following Christ every day.

Turn from evil. Do good. Seek peace. Pursue it. 🕊️❤️
